Žabljak

Žabljak is located on a plateau surrounded by the mountain peaks of Durmitor that dominate the landscape of this region. Durmitor National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is one of the most important natural areas in Europe. In its vicinity is the Black Lake, the most famous mountain lake in Montenegro. A special value to this area is given by the canyon of the Tara River, also part of the UNESCO protected area, which is one of the deepest canyons in the world. During the winter, Žabljak attracts lovers of skiing and winter sports, while in the summer it becomes the center of hiking, cycling and adventure tourism. Despite the growth in popularity, the city has preserved the character of a mountainous place where nature determines the rhythm of life. Almost every road leading from Zabljak ends with a viewpoint, a lake or a mountain peak. That is why many consider it one of the most beautiful places to stay in nature in the Balkans.
