Ulcinj

Ulcinj is one of the oldest cities on the Adriatic and a place where several cultures, languages and traditions have intersected over the centuries. Its Old Town is located on a rock above the sea and preserves the traces of different civilizations that have left their mark here. The city is especially famous for Velika plaža, the longest sandy beach on the Montenegrin coast, which stretches for kilometers towards the mouth of the Bojana River. Unlike most of the Montenegrin coast, Ulcinj is characterized by wide spaces, sandy shores and an open view of the sea. In the immediate vicinity is Solana, one of the most important bird habitats on the eastern coast of the Adriatic. The Bojana River further shapes the identity of this area through the fishing tradition and recognizable houses on the water. Throughout history, the city has been an important port, trading center and refuge for sailors. Today, it represents a blend of Mediterranean and Balkan heritage with a recognizable local character. It is this combination of nature, history and various influences that makes Ulcinj one of the most impressive cities in Montenegro.
