Durmitor – hiking among lakes, peaks and canyons

Durmitor is one of the most famous hiking zones in Montenegro and the place where the mountain shows its most dramatic face. Here there are high peaks, deep valleys, glacial lakes, dense forests and views that are not easily forgotten. The most common base for hiking on Durmitor is Žabljak, a town that is naturally associated with mountain tourism, the Black Lake, Savin Kuk and numerous trails that lead to the heart of the national park.
Hiking on Durmitor can be easy, like a walk around the Black Lake, but also serious, like a climb to Bobotov kuk, Prutas, Planinica or other Durmitor peaks. This area is great for guests who want to combine an active vacation, mountain nature and a stay in one of the most recognizable areas of Montenegro.
The special value of Durmitor is that there are many different experiences in a relatively small area. One trail leads through the forest, the second along the lake, the third towards the ridge, and the fourth opens up the view of the Tara Canyon. That is why Durmitor is not just a mountain for hiking, but a place where every step brings a new picture.
