Zaboj Lake

Hidden among the dense conifer and beech forests of Sinjajevina, Lake Zaboj is one of the most peaceful natural corners of northern Montenegro. Its clear water, in which the tall trees and mountain sky are reflected, creates a special ambience for walking, resting and enjoying untouched nature.

Deep among the wooded areas of Sinjajevina, at an altitude of 1,477 meters above sea level, is Zabojsko jezero, one of the most interesting mountain lakes in Montenegro. Located on the territory of the municipality of Mojkovac, in the protected area of the Durmitor National Park, this lake is surrounded by tall conifers and beech forest, whose crowns are reflected in its calm surface. Its location, far from large settlements and busy roads, creates an environment dominated by silence, fresh mountain air and nature preserved in its original form.

Although its surface area is not large, Lake Zaboj is distinguished by a depth that reaches almost 19 meters, which ranks it among the deepest mountain lakes in Montenegro. Its clear water changes shades depending on the light and the reflection of the surrounding trees, creating scenes that especially attract photography and nature lovers. The forest areas that surround it provide the opportunity for easy walks, research and rest along the coast, while nearby mountain trails reveal the beauty of lesser-known parts of Sinjajevina.

Lake Zaboj is not a place of great tourist attractions, but a natural refuge for those who enjoy the simplicity of the mountain environment. A walk by the water, resting in the shade of trees and watching the reflection of the forest on the lake surface is enough to feel its uniqueness. It is precisely the preservation of nature and the tranquility that reigns in this area that make Lake Zaboj a valuable destination for everyone who wants to discover the quieter side of the Montenegrin mountains.
