The oldest literary event in Montenegro, "Poetic Word at the Source of Beer", will be held in its 55th edition on July 17 and 18, 2026 in Plužine. This jubilee event is organized by the Cultural Center Plužine in cooperation with the Municipality of Plužine, and this year it will bring together more than forty poets, writers, literary critics and artists from Montenegro and the region.
Program of the event: Friday, July 17 (first day): Opening ceremony and exhibition: Opening of the exhibition of paintings by academic sculptor Mato Uljarević and promotion of new books published in the past year. Evening of Creators from Piva: Presentation of new editions of beer authors and performance of local poet Slavica Pivljanin with the narration of verses by local poets. Literary Awards Ceremony: Ceremonial presentation of the prestigious "Slovo Pive" awards for 2026 and the "Radule Željko Damjanović" award. Saturday, July 18 (second day): Symposium of Criticism: A professional conference dedicated to the literary work of Veroljub Vukašinović. Promotion of the laureates: Presentation of the poetry of Rade Šupić, last year's winner of the "Slovo Pive" award. Festive poetry evening: Meeting of participants and presentation of the awards "Beer Eye" for lifetime achievement and "Kosta Radović" for the best book of prose. Final programs: Poetry rally and a special literary evening dedicated to the work of Miroslav Maksimović. Accompanying program (Sunday, July 19): The end of the event is scheduled for a tour of the Dobrilovina Monastery, after which the participants will go on a traditional trip to Podgorica and Belgrade.
