Nikšić will host the International Guitar Fest again this year, and the 21st edition of the festival will open on September 23 at 8 p.m. on the stage of the Nikšić Theater.
Concerts by international artists, a competition of guitarists, educational content and meetings dedicated to music will mark the 21st International Guitar Fest Nikšić. This year's edition will last from September 23 to December 15, the organizers announced.
The Montenegrin Symphony Orchestra will open the festival with a concert in the Nikšić Theater on September 23 at 8 p.m. The orchestra will be conducted by Ivo Marzano, while guitarist Danijel Cerović will perform as a soloist.
Concerto for guitar and orchestra no. 1 in D major, Op. 99 Marija Castelnuova-Tedesca and Serenade for Strings in C Major, Op. 48 by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. The audience will also hear one of the most important works written for guitar and orchestra.
Among the announced guests is Stefan Milenković, whose performance is scheduled for October 23 as part of the Anagastum Classics program. Launched last year, this segment brings concerts by prominent artists and ensembles from various fields of classical music. With it, the festival expands its offer and, along with the guitar, brings other instruments and performers closer to the audience.
The organizers also announce guest appearances by well-known names of the international guitar scene, which they will present in the coming weeks. The almost three-month program will include educational activities, a conference and presentations of instruments.
A special place is occupied by the International Competition, the final of which will be held on December 13. The competition part will be followed by additional programs and the presentation of instruments, while the entire schedule and the names of the participants will be published gradually.
Guitar Fest Nikšić has been connecting performance, education and international cultural cooperation for more than two decades. Through concerts, competitions and support for young artists, it has developed into one of the most significant and longest-running international events dedicated to classical guitar in Montenegro.
This year's edition is held under the general patronage of the Municipality of Nikšić, with co-financing by the Ministry of Culture and Media of Montenegro. The Music Center of Montenegro, the Nikšić Theater, the University of Montenegro - Music Academy, Nikšić Radio and Television, the Nikšić 2030 European Capital of Culture project, Montenegro International Guitar Competition and Anagastum Guitar, with the support of other festival partners, participate in the realization.
