From September 18 to 20, 2026, Herceg Novi welcomes the first festival of multiculturalism "Castelwave". The house of Ivo Andrić will be a meeting place of different cultures through a Japanese tea ceremony, an artistic performance and a film projection.
The first edition of the International Festival of Multiculturalism "Castelwave" will be held from September 18 to 20, 2026 in the House of Ivo Andrić in Herceg Novi. The organization is signed by NGO "Trabakul", with the support of JUK "Hercegfest".
The program begins on Friday with a Japanese tea ceremony, in two sessions, at 6 and 7 p.m. Visitors will be guided through this custom by Milijana Vujakli, together with guest from Tokyo Ai Keto, who will present traditional kimono and Japanese customs.
Saturday evening, September 19 from 6 p.m., is dedicated to Andrić's work. The artist Nezaket Ekiči will perform a performance inspired by the novel "On the Drina bridge", with the participation of three Herzegovinian high school students and the reading of excerpts in three languages.
The festival ends on Sunday, September 20 at 7 pm, with the Montenegrin premiere of the experimental documentary "Maga 1909", directed by Branka Pavlović. Through dance, the film approaches the story of journalist, intellectual and feminist Maga Magazinović.
Connecting different artistic expressions, "Castelwave" opens space for cultural exchange and getting to know the traditions of other countries.
