Nikšić Theater - More than a century of theater tradition

The Nikšić Theater, along with the Royal Theater "Zetski dom", is one of the oldest theaters in Montenegro. Its history begins in 1884, with the establishment of the Voluntary Theater Society and the performance of the first play "Slobodarka". During more than a century, the theater went through different stages of development, from amateur troupes to professional theater, leaving a significant mark on the cultural life of Nikšić and Montenegro.

The contemporary Nikšić Theater was founded in 1999 as a public institution, and since 2015 it has been operating in the reconstructed building of the former "18 September" cinema. A modern multimedia hall with 412 seats provides conditions for the performance of theater performances, film screenings, music and other cultural and artistic programs. Today, the Nikšić Theater represents an important center of cultural events and contributes to the preservation and development of theater art.
