Danilovgrad

Danilovgrad was founded in the second half of the 19th century as a planned urban settlement. Its location along the Zeta River allowed the development of agriculture and trade, which for a long time formed the basis of local life. Near the city is the Ostrog Monastery, one of the most visited Orthodox shrines in the Balkans. The Zeta River and the surrounding natural areas represent an important part of the identity of this region. Unlike larger urban centers, Danilovgrad has preserved a more relaxed atmosphere and a strong connection with the local community. The city is located at the crossroads of roads connecting Podgorica, Nikšić and the north of the country. It is this location that provides easy access to numerous natural and cultural sights of central Montenegro. Danilovgrad is a place that does not stand out for its size, but for its authentic character and closeness to nature.
