Đalovića cave, which locals and researchers often call the cave above Vražji firovi, is a real miracle of nature and is without a doubt one of the most important speleological objects not only in Montenegro, but also in the wider Balkans. Located deep in the canyon of the Đalovića gorge, in the municipality of Bjelopolje, this cave is protected as a natural monument primarily because of its monumentality, the wealth of cave jewelry and the fact that it represents one of the most complex underground systems that have ever been explored in our country.
The cave itself is a real underground labyrinth. Its system of canals, halls and passages stretches for tens of kilometers, and what leaves one breathless is the unreal beauty of its decorations. Inside are halls that rival huge cathedrals in size, filled with huge stalactites, stalagmites, cave columns and crystal drapery that took millions of years to form. In addition, the cave also hides a number of underground lakes, channels and "firos" - deep water abysses that give the whole object a touch of mysticism and wilderness. Precisely those Vražji firs, which are located in the immediate vicinity of the entrance, were for a long time a natural barrier that kept this gem only for the most daring speleologists. From the scientific side, Đalovića cave is priceless. It is a habitat for specific species of cave fauna, insects and bats that have completely adapted to life in total darkness and constant conditions of humidity and cold. Geologically speaking, it is an "open book" that tells us about the history of the formation of our mountains and the underground water flows that carved this canyon for centuries. The importance of protecting this site is enormous. Due to its inaccessibility and wild nature, Đalovića Cave was preserved from any human influence for decades, which allowed it to remain in its original, untouched state. Today, when working on its touristic valorization, the main challenge and goal is to make all that beauty accessible to the public, while at the same time protecting that fragile underground ecosystem from any possible degradation. A visit to the Đalovića Cave is not just a tourist tour; it is an encounter with one of the most powerful natural phenomena that reminds us how big, mysterious nature really is and how little we actually know about what lies beneath our feet.
