Black Lake, located in the heart of the Durmitor National Park, is one of the most recognizable natural symbols of Montenegro and the central tourist attraction of Zabljak. This glacial lake, known as the most beautiful and most important of all the "mountain eyes" of Durmitor, is actually made up of two bodies of water that the people call the Great and Small Lakes, which are interconnected by a narrow and shallow channel that often dries up during the dry summer months, creating a visual impression of two separate units.

This place is not only a tourist destination, but also an extremely important habitat for diverse flora and fauna, which is why the entire area enjoys strict protection within the framework of UNESCO's World Heritage, as part of the Durmitor National Park.
