Rožaje

Rožaje developed on an important road route that connected Montenegro with the interior of the Balkans for centuries. The city is located along the Ibar River, in an area where mountains and forests dominate the landscape. The natural wealth of this area is best seen through spacious forest complexes, mountainous areas and numerous springs. A special place is occupied by Hajla, a mountain that has become a symbol of the Rožaje region and a favorite destination of mountaineers. Rožaje is known for its strong tradition and customs that are still nurtured through the everyday life of the local population. Throughout history, it has been an important trade and craft center of this part of the region. Unlike large urban centers, the city has retained a sense of closeness between people and connection with nature.
